just for fun!

These two cards I made for fun as well, they'll go into the "stash" box to be used when needed. To be honest with you, that is mostly the way I make cards. With no one in particular in mind, just feel like colouring, or being alone. I'm pretty much left alone when I'm up in my craft room. I get rather grumpy when I'm interrupted, since I get such a little time to do it, and they are beginning to understand that. So today, its Kraftin Kimmie and Lily of the Valley.

Kraftin Kimmie Challenge -- Scallops

Morning!
Southern Ontario has been blasted with some strange weather again this weekend. First, more snow...then, last night it warmed up enough to rain...only to get cold, very cold, again. And windy. The roads are like ice rinks. Perfect. I keep looking in my garden for my snow whites to come up...a sure sign that spring will indeed come this year. Nothing yet, but I'll take a pic when they do. If you are in Southern Ontario, you'll be happy to see them. We have not had a winter like this in a long while.

My card this week is using Miles the Mouse. These are so fun. If you don't have any you really should get some, they are fun and easy to color up.

 

 

I've had this paper for quite a while. When I first saw it, I had to have it. I thought it was so cute. Then, as happens a lot in my craft room, I put it away because I couldn't bear to cut it. Today though, I did. I stamped Miles' boots on a couple of the boots on the paper, and paper pieced them onto the colored imaged, then put some glaze on them to make them look shiny like rubber boots do. I've showed the inside this time, which I don't usually do. I think it sort of makes the card...it looks like Miles is quite happy in his fancy boots, dancing in the rain.

Kraftin Kimmie Challenge...Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

Wow, my second post, and second challenge entry this week. Stay-cations are so good for the soul, aren't they? Time to catch up on things that HAVE to be done, and things you WANT to get done. So, I've been playing in my craftroom. I have three cards posted, but only the first is for the challenge....the others were just for fun.

Now, the challenge was to reduce, reuse or recycle. For this I went through my box of diecuts, and found this red tea cup that I made last Christmas (2009), when I got my Gypsy. I cut a lot of things then, but didn't use many of them on projects. And this tea cup was one of them. I was just playing with how to "flip" things over and join them together to make shaped cards. The Bazill Swiss dots cardstock came from my scrap bin, and so did that little scrap of lace that you can hardly see anymore. So, there you have it. Hope it qualifies.

 

 

 

You may have noticed....I bought some of the seam binding, in several colors, that is all the rage now, and I think it is so pretty. I've used some as is, and distressed some.

Kraftin Kimmie Christmas

I'm sure I've mentioned that I love Kraftin Kimmie Stamps...and her Christmas stamps were no different. I was browsing through my photos today, and look what I found. The pics aren't great, but I thought I'd post them anyway. And, yes, I know Christmas is over. I'm also pretty sure I cased some sketch designs on these...so if you recognize your design...thanks so much.

Kraftin Kimmie Valentine's Card

I think Kraftin Kimmie stamps are my new favorites! They are so awesome, and fun to color. I rarely color any of them up using pastels, or soft colors, they seem to scream out for brightness, boldness and bling!! Talk about fun!

 

This particular card features Willard, with a bee on his nose. I have kept this card fairly "blingless", as it was made for my son to give to his girlfriend, and he doesn't like it when I make them too "girly". Although, in my defense, she IS a girl, right?! And it IS for her, not him...right?! Anyway, I think it qualifies for this week's challenge, as Willard is carrying a bunch of roses, and there are some blossoms on the paper (an old Basic Grey valentine collection...may even have been just last year).

Kraftin Kimmie Halloween

So...my Kraftin Kimmie Halloween Kit came last week, and today is the first day I had some time to color one up...to busy with Christmas cards. I so, so love this image...she is called Batty Princess. So far, she is my favorite of the set, but since she is the first one I colored up, I'll probably change my mind...I'm kinda fickle that way.

Kraftin Kimmie Christmas

These are our two youngest kiddies...Lexi, and Jonah (who would not be happy at all to know that I called him "kiddie"). We also have an older son who is very camera shy these days, and usually takes off quickly when the camera comes out...once in a while I get lucky, but not often, and not this summer yet at all. Although, to be fair, he was gone for 6 weeks of it...and man was I glad when he came home.

 

 

This card is another Kraftin Kimmie stamp...they are my favorites right now. And just when I think they can't possibly get any cooler...they do. Have you seen the Halloween stamps yet?...to die for my friends. Mine came in the mail today and I can hardly wait to start coloring...too bad there is that pesky thing called "dinner" I have to cook first. I used some Imaginesce papers from last year, and Martha Stewart snowflake punches with a generous dusting of glitter. The snowflake brads are pewter, bought them last year and never opened the bag...so here they are. The way I see it, the people I send the cards to really don't know what was last year's stuff and what is "in" right now, so it doesn't matter if I use my old stuff...right?

 

And another. Again, using some old paper, and again, I don't know who makes it. I used Flower Soft on the bottom of her skirt and buttons, and then put just a little bit of stickles to make it pop.

 

The weather in Southern Ontario is absolutely gorgeous today, just perfect for a soccer game. So its dinner, soccer and some coloring for me tonight.

Some Kraftin Kimmie Cards...

 

I colored this one up almost as soon as this yummy kit arrived in the mailbox. These mermaids are just so much fun! I colored her with Copics and used some stickles to give her fins some shimmer. I can't remember where the paper is from, it was something I had in my stash.

 

I soooooo love this image...I think she is one of my favorites so far...Goldilocks!! Again, I colored her with Copics, alone this time, I usually use my Prismas with Gamsol to shade and add dimension. I find that look better than using just Copics alone. I keep watching tutorials online and practicing, but the Prismas just seem to nail it for me anyway.

 

And this card I made for a Kraftin Kimmie challenge some time ago, but never posted, lucky enough to find an hour or so to play, not enough to take pics, edit, post, etc. So it was just for fun. Colored it with Copics, and used October Afternoon papers I think. October Afternoon, Basic Grey and Cosmo Cricket tend to be my favs, but I'm not a paper snob, and will use anything that catches my fancy.

I am so loving having some time to make some cards...sort of therapeutic I think. It seems to soothe my soul, I feel so peaceful when I'm up in my craftroom. Although that quickly dissipates when I see all the other things that are being neglected while I'm playing. Oh well...this too, shall end I suppose, and work and school will take precedence again.
